Multi-fuel stove installation versus wood stove installation…
Decisions decisions

Multi-fuel stove installation
Ok, so what’s the difference? Well, it’s kind of obvious really – one burns just wood, the other burns wood and coal. Simples.
More importantly, what difference does it make to you?
Well, quite a big one really. Aesthetically speaking you probably get more choice in multi-fuel Stoves but there’s a good range in both. The really important thing is where you live… In a smoke free zone??? You most likely are! Well then, its most likely going to be multi-fuel or you could be left with very little choice on what you burn. The reason why is because regular timber isn’t classed as smoke free fuel (unless you burn it on a DEFRA approved stove) and as such you will only be able to burn wood pulp logs – which can be very expensive
Wood burning stove installation
If you know for a fact that you are only going to burn wood pulp logs, or you are definitely having a DEFRA approved stove (only up to 5KW!) or you definitely live in a smoke free zone – then a wood only stove can be a better and cheaper option. The difference is largely in the internal design and you would be hard pushed to notice the difference to be honest.

We’ve just been to collect a couple of tools we left in the last job and the client left us these.

Best clients ever. Fact.
The right wood?!?

Wood is just wood… right? Well maybe not. Burning the right wood makes a huge difference to the efficiency of your stove. Ensure your wood has a moisture content of less than 20%. You can achieve this by buying kiln dried wood or seasoned wood.
It’s a good idea to buy a moisture meter. These handy little gadgets allow you to measure the moisture content in your wood just by touching the device to a log. Very nifty.
If you live a smokeless fuel zone you will need to burn wood with <20% moisture on a DEFRA exempt stove. This is a requirement by law.

Log burners, wood burners, multi fuel stoves… what’s the difference?
A quick and simple explanation:
Wood burning stoves are the same thing as log burners (surprise surprise!)
Multi fuel stoves can burn wood and coal. At the same time or independently.
Ensure your wood has less than 20% moisture. Buy a moisture meter, they cost about £20 👍🏻
Simples.
The weekend at last…
